Love, hope, acceptance and lots of emotion, what went it into picking the new 'Gerber baby'... We run it down...
This year's was slightly different. Amid growing
tendency to abort, for mothers who find out baby will have Down's syndrome,
Gerber pushed the bar a little further, by picking their first ever Gerber
spokesbaby with Down's syndrome.
Lucas Warren was the winner of this year's contest. Hailing from Georgia, Lucas' mom Courtney Warren submitted a picture of a very gleeful-looking and beaming Lucas, clad in a light green shirt, and white trousers.
In an effort to show that every baby is a Gerber baby, and to encourage the acceptance of babies with special needs, especially during a time when more and more parents are opting for abortions, instead of birth, Lucas was picked out of a pool of 140,000 babies.
The Warren family will also receive $50,000 as
part of their winning the contest.
