A male model was born with a rare skin condition vitiligo that marked him for the rest of his life.
The first years of his life, as well as school years, were pretty hard on him but he finally accepted himself for who he is:
A man from the UK by the name Bashir Aziz once worked as a sales clerk but decided to try himself in the world of modeling and eventually succeeded in that endeavor. One thing that highly differs Mr. Aziz from other male models of his race and age is that he suffers from a pretty rare skin condition called vitiligo.
Vitiligo can be described as a skin condition but is actually a rare autoimmune disorder that leads to discolorations all over the body. One of the most famous people who lived with this condition was the late singer and entertainer Michael Jackson.
While Aziz can be considered “unique” for this condition, he thinks that it didn’t bring him anything good until now.
It Wasn’t Easy to Grow Up
When Aziz was asked to describe life with the rare autoimmune disease, he said that growing up with the same disease MJ suffered from wasn’t easy at all. It was challenging so to speak.
He admitted that as a kiddo he was extremely self-conscious because people would look at him whatever he did. He admits he was so aware of his skin condition that he even wore T-shirts at public swimming pools. "This all wrecked havoc on my self-esteem".
All in all, Mr. Aziz didn’t have an easy time growing up with this disease at all.
And Then the Bullies Came Into Play
The model claims that he was also bullied A LOT because of his vitiligo. He admits that people have called him a “patchy cow” or “zebra.” The name-calling really affected his mood and self-confidence.
“It was hard growing up being surrounded by people who didn’t want to think out of the box,” claims Aziz.
A Major Shift
After experiencing hell during his teen years, Aziz realized that he must make a major shift in his life.
It took him some time to reconsider his condition and he eventually accepted it completely. He’s now proud of all of his patches and discolorations. Even though people still stare at him, he isn’t self-conscious anymore!
