LFW, London's premier fashion event —the most stylish event of the British capital— was recently at its scintillating best. Though the most stylish models sashaying in their finery did up the ante in contemporary fashion, it was the Queen who stole the show. Yes, her majesty was present and, coruscated in her finery, cut out a very modish figure herself.
It was the British monarch’s maiden visit to the fashion pageant and she outdid everyone with her impeccable dressing sense. Clad in a pale-blue fur-embellished tweed outfit she was a dainty sight to behold!
She honored upcoming designer Richard Quinn with an award for phenomenal talent and originality.
Just a day prior to her majesty’s surprise visit to the event, Kate Middleton and Sophie, her aunt-in-law had hosted a special fashion function at the monarch’s residence to showcase and promote the changing perception of contemporary fashion in the Commonwealth nations. It was a star-studded event with royalty and the who’s who of the fashion world gathered under one roof.
Kate donned an intricately patterned dress and high-heeled pumps to the function while her aunt-in-law preferred an ebony attire with scarlet highlights.
With all the royal patronage fashion is receiving, it remains to be seen how the next generation of designers takes the industry forward.
