Recently, a Twitter user, suffering from depression asked Dan Harmon, co-showrunner of an American animated sit-com, for help.
Though she wasn't expecting a reply but to her surprise, Dan Harmon did
respond and his words left a beautiful impact on hundreds of Twitter users.
Chorjurah, the girl who asked for help from Dan, says that she wanted an advice from someone who has been through it all and not mere a professional.
The girl also said that she knows what works the best for her but someone of high stature coming out in public will definitely help a million of readers in need. She feels that letting out pain does help in the long run, if not in an instant.
In a series of tweets, Dan throws light on how to deal with depression like a Pro! One, he asks the sufferer to just relax and own her feelings just like we own a dress, a jacket or a hat. He asks to communicate those feelings as well, instead of bottling it up within.
We're all humans and we all have feelings.
Admitting and accepting it is of utmost importance.
Secondly, Mr. Harmon says, that it is important to remind oneself, again and again that feelings are real but they aren't the reality. What it actually means is that feelings and facts are equal but still different.
He also emphasizes on the fact that it's a stupid idea to fight this demon alone, instead, there's magic working miraculously everywhere. Small things like, writing "I want to die" and burning it will make you feel good in an instant. The output is magical.
In his last tweet, he tells the Twitter user that dark feelings will return,
every now and then till you don't overcome them. He asks the little girl to tap
those feelings, vent them out over and over. It may seem a difficult thing to
do for once, but keep trying, that's the key.
Not only the person who asked this in the first instance felt a bit sorted out but also hundreds of users poured their hearts out thanking Dan for his words of wisdom. They are all praises for the American writer, producer, actor and voice actor.
More Power to you Dan Harmon for impacting lives of people so
beautifully with your kind words and helping the girl in the time of need.
