Despite Hollywood’s’ effort to include more women in both film and music, the 2018 Grammy Awards were nothing short of chauvinistic. How come?
The Grammy Awards used to be an event we have always looked forward to watching. However, the 2018 Grammys remained deaf to all pleas on behalf of women in Hollywood, all of whom insisted that equal rights and equal payments are a must in the industry at this point.
Actually, at this year’s Grammy awards, females went by unnoticed, despite multiple nominations in some of the strongest and most esteemed categories.
Alessia Cara was the only female who managed to score a major award and was given the Best New Artist title.
As for the rest, despite the wide selection of female nominees, the Grammy Awards decision-makers took the easier route and awarded all males in the remaining categories.
Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and more won the biggest music accomplishment titles, while singers like Pink and Lorde fell behind in the choice-making process.
In fact, Lorde was the only performer in her category that was not invited to perform live, unlike her competition that includes JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars.
