Sisters Abby and Brittany Hensel are the most famous conjoined twins in the world.
Their parents rejected the idea to separate them because doctors told them it was likely that both would not survive the operation.
They share a body but they have separated vital organs.
Abby controls the right leg and arm while Brittany controls the left leg and arm.
At the age of 16 they allowed a television network to enter their house and film a documentary about their adolescence.
Their tastes are opposite. Abby loves mathematics and Brittany loves writing. Although the kitchen is something they have in common.
They fight for their individuality: both want to express their personality like any teenager through clothing and accessories.
The sisters told in their documentary that they dream of meeting a boy, getting married and having children.
Walking is an exercise when they practice coordination and concentration because they have to coordinate with each other.
To obtain the driver’s license was a double challenge. Actually the conjoined twins have two driver’s licenses, one with Abby’s name and another with Brittany’s name.
Both had to pass a theoretical test independently. Abby controls everything on the right of the driver’s seat and Brittany on the left.
Each twin has a heart, stomach, spine, lungs and spinal cord.
The worst thing about being conjoined twins is the fact that people stare and point with a finger at them.
