It is true that breastfeeding in public remains a pretty controversial issue.
That also goes for the reaction of a woman in Dartford, a town in the south-east of England, when another woman reproached her for breastfeeding her son in a public place.
It all started when this woman (who is thus far anonymous) noticed another woman breastfeeding her baby in a public park.
She did not like that she was doing this in front of her child and husband. Then she asked the woman to find a more private place. Instead of responding, the mother who was feeding her baby sprayed her with breast milk.
So the woman was very affected by the reaction and wrote the following on her Facebook page:
“To the lady Dartford park who thought it was appropriate to breastfeed her baby whist my child and very easily distracted husband sat nearby.
I don’t think it was necessary for you to react the way you did just because I asked you to go somewhere private. Telling me to f**k off and squirting me with your boobs was incredibly uncalled for!”
It seems that she expected support, but her words turned completely against her. Here, for example, some answers she got:
“You should be ashamed of yourself! It’s hard enough to breastfeed a baby let alone be judged for it in public! If I had to breastfeed my 3 month old in public I would permanently have my tits out!
Your easily distracted husband clearly hasn’t seen a pair of tits in a while! Perhaps next time you’re out you should go and eat your dinner in the toilets. I think not!”
