When billionaire entrepreneur Robert Hughes organized a lavish party for his daughter's 18th birthday, he wanted it to be a successful and memorable celebration.
However, the party that took place in his mansion in Cheshire and cost $ 2.2 billion ended with a great fight.
Between insults and punches, the police had to be called and Mr. Hughes, aged 59, had to be hospitalized with a cut in the head and a black eye.
The problems began around 1 a.m. 24th
of December, 2015, when a group of adolescents began to fight in the garden of
Mr. Hughes says that his wife, Kathryn, a 52-year-old writer, told him the young men were fighting outside, so the man went out to stop them.
"I have never seen anything like that,
especially in my own garden," he said. "I was so naïve when I thought
that shouting would stop them."
The businessman tried to convince the young people to leave his home but one of the guests, Lawrence Adams, aged 18, punched him in the face.
Robert said he was surprised that an 18-year-old
teenager dared to hit the birthday girl's father. In fact, he still cannot
As the group approached the electric gate, Mr. Hughes was punched by Adams again and fell backward hitting his head hard on the ground. Outraged and enraged, the businessman returned to the house and called the police.
After a few minutes, five
patrollers arrived and arrested Adams, who claimed afterward that he hit the
man after being attacked.
The fight began when a friend of Adams, Alex Goulding,
asked for vodka in the open bar but was responded that it was a drink for women
only. That was the beginning.
Adams declared that, at first, there were only a few shoves, but everything went out of control. As he says, Scott was the first who punched so he responded.
Then, he saw Mr. Hughes standing nearby, looking
at him with an aggressive face, and, in the middle of the fight, he thought he
should hit him. And so he did.
