Turia Pitt – first girl on the cover of the Women’s Weekly magazine, who weren’t embarrassed to show her appearance maimed by fire.
A well-known sportswoman left the modeling business a few years ago, after suffering from a fire at the marathon.
Today she’s on the cover of a glossy magazine all over again.
In 2011, Turia applied to participate in the RacingThePlanet marathon. Being $1600 short became the reason for refusal.
But lack of athletes forced the organizers to invite several participants for free so that the event wouldn’t get cancelled.
Turia, along with other athletes, got trapped in fire in the tree belt area. She tried to break through the fire lane.
65% of girl's skin is burned. She lost her fingers and right hand. The doctors were also forced to amputate the girl's leg.
They generally doubted that she would live.
The girl says that the doctors' predictions did not come true just because her beloved was constantly there for her. She met Michael Hoskin back at school.
They started dating when turned 21. Their relationship got only more solid with time. Michael had some complicated times ahead of him: he had to not only take care of the sick girl but to do everything instead of her.
She was unable to wash herself, or open a bottle of water, much less go to the toilet without help.
Together they had to learn to live in a new way: she had to get used to the new face, he had to get used to live with a beloved woman in a new guise.
Michael continues to love Turia the way she has become. He knows that she’s remained the same, and appearance is not an indicator.
Boyfriend supports the beloved, admires her and says that, despite the injuries, she can go back the active lifestyle again.
Turia has many cosmetic surgeries coming her way, but the most important thing for her is that Michael stayed with her at such a difficult time and helped her cope with the tragedy.
