The McGlocklins were pretty happy with their life as they have everything they needed: to beautiful daughters and sunny California spreading miles away all around them.
But soon they became noticing that something strange was going on with 1-year-old daughter Marian.
At first parents didn’t see anything bad in that their girl was born very thin and delicate, but when she stopped saying words she learned, Sara and Paul started worrying and took her to see the doctor.
Doctors found an enlarged spleen and muscle weakness, which pointed some underlying health problems the girl had and did a lot of test to find out if they could define these certain problems.
When the family heard the diagnosis they were terrified. Their little girl had a disease called Niemann-Pick disease type C (NPC), which sometimes referred to as childhood Alzheimer’s.
The whole family started searching for some sort of treatment or cure, but soon they found out that there’s no cure for this fatal disease.
To help their daughter, Sara and Paul located a treatment with a drug called Sara and Paul, which slows the progression of this disease.
Though this treatment is life-prolonging, it’s not a cure, but thanks to it Marian has seen some improvement, in motor skills, speech, and memory. So her parents hope that their precious daughter could be one among the first cured cases of NPC.
As far as NPC is a rare disease, there is not a lot of awareness or funds for research, so Marian’s family decided to raise money and awareness through their little girl’s story.
And we hope, that will all hard work the McGlocklin’s have already done, the cure will be found and their daughter will live a long a happy life.
